چکیده

Abstract: Computer simulation is largely used in radar signal analysis. This present work treats the simulation of precipitation echoes in weather radar application. where two different approaches are used for simulating weather radar signals. These simulated signals offer great potential for estimating spectral moment and various polarimetric variables .One of the methods uses a time domain approach while the other uses the frequency domain approach. We show that the simulated signals reflect the desired properties. Both the simulation algorithms are based on a macroscopic model, i.e. a random processes with an assigned power spectrum.

A New Algorithm for the Deinterleaving of Radar Pulses

This paper presents a new algorithm for the deinterleaving of radar signals, based on the direction of arrival (DOA), carrier frequency (RF), and time of arrival (TOA). The algorithm is applied to classic (constant), jitter, staggered, and dwell switch pulse repetition interval (PRI) signals. This algorithm consists of two stages. In the first stage, a Kohonen neural network clusters the receiv...

Efficiency of Target Location Scenarios in the Multi-Transmitter Multi-Receiver Passive Radar

Multi-transmitter multi-receiver passive radar, which locates target in the surveillance area by the reflected signals of the available opportunistic transmitter from the target, is of interest in many applications. In this paper, we investigate different signal processing scenarios in multi-transmitter multi-receiver passive radar. These scenarios include decentralized processing of reference ...

Application of the SZ Phase Code to Mitigate Range–Velocity Ambiguities in Weather Radars

It has been demonstrated through simulations that the SZ phase code method of mitigating range ambiguities has a performance that exceeds any other known phase-coding scheme. This paper describes an implementation of this code on a weather radar and compares its performance with that derived from simulations. Spectral data obtained from NCAR’s S-Pol radar, which had its transmitted phases coded...

Effect of Curved Path Monopulse Radar Platform’s Grazing Angle on Height of Floated Targets Detection

Monopulse radarsare one of the most accurate tracking radars used to guide various platforms. Detection and tracking of surface targets with these radars are performed in order to point strike targets. Sea clutter presents challenges for detecting floated targets and in addition to affecting detection height, it can cause errors in monopulse angle finding. In this paper, the airborne monopulse ...

Estimating animal densities in the aerosphere using weather radar: To Z or not to Z?

Weather radars provide near-continuous recording and extensive spatial coverage, which is a valuable resource for biologists, who wish to observe and study animal movements in the aerosphere over a wide range of temporal and spatial scales. Powerful biological inferences can be garnered from radar data that have been processed primarily with the intention of understanding meteorology. However, ...
